Hello,
Welcome to Rooper's Pugs. My name is Terra Rooper. My husband Billy and I, along with our 3 children, live in the beautiful countryside of Culpeper County Virginia. I started raising Pugs because they brought so much happiness into our family, and I wanted to share that joy with others. All of our dogs are pets, and puppies are raised in our home with lots of love to ensure that they are well socialized with people and children and ready to be a wonderful companion for many years to come. I raise AKC and CKC. We have Fawns and Blacks. Prices range from $550-$650. We require a $150. non refundable deposit to hold a puppy. I start taking deposits when they are 3 weeks old. Puppiesare ready to go to their homes at 8 weeks of age. I offera 6 month health guarantee.I do not ship under any circumstances. Please visit the other pages for pictures and available puppies. Please CALL us with questions or to be put on our call/wait list.
Because of problems with having no shows, when I set an appointment, anyone that is a no show will be added to a DO NOT SELLTO list. There is nothing more frustrating then waiting on someone that never comes and can not be decent enough to call. Also if you request a puppy and then tell me that you have changed your mind when deposit time comes and you could have told me this 2 weeks prior you also will make my list. I give everyone respect that they deserve when they treat me like my time is also valued.
We like to feel good about the homes our puppies go to. A Pug puppy can bring alot of joy and love into your home. What people sometimes forget about is what an enormous responsibility it is having a puppy to care for. Pugs can take up to 1 year to become housebroken, and even then, they hate going outside when it is wet. It is also not fair to the puppy to be crated 8 hours or more a day with no human interaction because you have a busy job. It is very important that someone will be there to train them and give them love. Would you want to be left alone for that long? You can not expect them to learn anything this way. You will come home to a crate and puppy soaked in urine and feces. If you must leave for over 2 hours invest in a puppy playpen with a drop floor to prevent your puppy from stepping in poo(link below). Please consider the puppies feelings and not just yours. Ask yourself will you be giving it the BEST care it can receive? Do you have the time and money it takes to properly care for it? A Pug can cost $500 or more a year for vet care and that is without an emergency. High maintenance dog food is $40- $50 a bag. You can not feed a Pug cheap(Ol' Roy) dog food because most have allergies to the fillers and other non-nutritional ingredients. Cheap food will also end up costing you more vet bills. Go to index of reviews at http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/ to see what is good and what is not( You will be surprised). Also you can not leave a Pug outside. They can die very quickly in extreme heat or cold because of thier smashed faces. They have NO common sense around moving vehicles. You should invest in DOG WATCH fencing(link below) or other containment to protect them and keep them out of the driveway or road. Understand that I want you both to have a positive experience and love each other for many years to come. That is why this should be a well thought through decision and not made in haste. Pugs make great pets if you are looking for a small ,child-friendly and loveable companion. They are in the top 10 for best family friendly dogs.
