SENDING LOVE FROM OUR HOME TO YOUR'S

Hello,
Welcome to Rooper's Pugs. My name is Terra Rooper. My husband Billy and I, along with our 3 children, live in the beautiful countryside of Culpeper County Virginia.  I started raising Pugs because they brought so much happiness into our family, and I wanted to share that joy with others. All of our dogs are pets. Puppies are raised in our home with lots of love to ensure that they are well socialized with people and children and ready to be a wonderful companion for many years to come.
I raise AKC and CKC. We have Fawns and Blacks. Price $600.  We require a $200. non refundable deposit to hold a puppy. I do not accept checks. Money order or cash only. I start taking deposits when they are 4 weeks old.I will call you at 3 weeks to set you up with an appointment to come see your puppy and place a deposit and do your contract.  Puppies are ready to go to their homes at 8 weeks of age. I offer a 6 month health guarantee agaisnt any life threatening illness.  Puppies must be vet checked  with in 48 hours after leaving my care or they will be sold as is.  I do not ship under any circumstances. Please visit the other pages for pictures and available puppies. Please CALL us with questions or to be put on our call/wait list. These puppies are sold as pets. If you want breeding rights for AKC you will need to ask me if this can be arranged ahead of time and pay an extra $200. It is totally my decision and I have the right to turn down anyone for any reason. I usually only will sell breeding rights once maybe twice a year. I strongly recommend not to breed if a pet is what you are looking for. Male dogs that are not fixed will pee all over everything in your home including on your guests. They show much more aggression also. You can't keep them inside, your only option will be build them something outside or keep them in a kennel. They will no longer be a pet but a stud dog. A Female that has not been spayed will go into heat every 6 months. They will get blood all over everything even with diapers on. You will meet every male dog within 3 miles of where you live at your door step. Birthing Pug Pups is not easy. If left alone most will die. You have to get down and dirty delivering babies and you better know what you are doing or you will kill them yourself. They usually start having them at 3am and it can last 7 hours. There are alot of expenses you will have also, shots, wormer(the good kind) Revolution. Tons of poop and pee to clean up 5 to 6 times a day puppy food and the vet if you get an ill puppy. Once your female has had puppies her nipples will sag down and she will loose alot of hair. The hair grows back mostly but she keeps the saggy boobs. There is alot of hard work and real money that go into breeding if it is done the right way. You really do not make much profit after all of the expenses. So please rethink this decision. We want our puppies to go to pet homes not breeder homes.

Because of problems with having no shows, when I set an appointment, anyone that is a no show will be added to a DO NOT SELLTO list. There is nothing more frustrating then waiting on someone that never comes and can not be decent enough to call. Also if you request a puppy and then tell me that you have changed your mind when deposit time comes and you could have told me this 2 weeks prior you also will make my list. I give everyone respect that they deserve when they treat me like my time is also valued.

We like to feel good about the homes our puppies go to. A Pug puppy can bring alot of joy and love into your home. What people sometimes forget about is what an enormous responsibility it is having a puppy to care for. Pugs can take up to 1 year to become housebroken, and even then, they hate going outside when it is wet. It is also not fair to the puppy to be crated 8 hours or more a day with no human interaction because you have a busy job. It is very important that someone will be there to train them and give them love. Would you want to be left alone for that long? You can not expect them to learn anything this way. You will come home to a crate and puppy soaked in urine and feces. If you must leave for over 2 hours invest in a puppy playpen with a drop floor to prevent your puppy from stepping in poo(link below).  Please consider the puppies feelings and not just yours. Ask yourself will you be giving it the BEST care it can receive? Do you have the time and money it takes to properly care for it? A Pug can cost $500 or more a year for vet care and that is without an emergency. High maintenance dog food is $40- $50 a bag. Also you can not leave a Pug outside. They can die very quickly in extreme heat or cold because of thier smashed faces. They have NO common sense around moving vehicles. You should invest in DOG WATCH fencing(link below) or other containment to protect them and keep them out of the driveway or road. Understand that I want you both to have a positive experience and love each other for many years to come. That is why this should be a well thought through decision and not made in haste. Pugs make great pets if you are looking for a small ,child-friendly and loveable companion. They are in the top 10 for best family friendly dogs.
